We got to camp just after 10pm lastnight…it was a long long march…but what a day.
The first 4 days was nothing compared to the 5th stage. At least I know from previous races that you need to keep some energy for the long day. For some weird reason I love these long days. All you have to do is keep moving forward at a steady pace….slow but steady.
Amanda and I ran/shuffle/walked together the whole way. What a super day we had!!!!
Carlos(mad man in charge of the course), took us through canyons, dry rocky river bed, up a 10km climb up a mountain…and then down..and he up…and down…and so it went on. We just kept on moving forward at a mean pace.
Just before sunset we put on our warm jackets, beanies, gloves and headlamps. Then we were ready for some night running.
Shortly after that we could not find he next route marker, but luckily e were 5 people all looking for the correct route…and found it.
And from there onwards we all try to run together. Running in the dark is not one of my strong points, and it was nice to have some company.
He last 20km was very painful and the terrain was not kind on sore feet and body.
But we made it!!!! 4 of the tenties of Karek Castle finished together. Me, amand, sonke and Michael.
We kicked some serious ass yesterday!!!
What an epic EPIC day.
And 80%pain free. Wooohooo…because 87km is a faaaaaking long way to go
Thank you for all those positive vibes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Desert westie….or after Jordan more like wannabee mountain goat
Ps. So much fun to smell of 6 days of sweat.
So much more to tell….will give the gory details soon when I’m back home and can write in peace.
Pps. Gonna miss this desert and its people19 February 2014 02:46 am (GMT+02:00) Cairo
And enjoying every single minute of the race. It is not easy at all to run with this pain….but the scenery and all the great people around makes this an awesome race.
Ran again with Amanda today, and we kicked some serious ass again. South African girls are tough!! Of net plain hard koppig en vat nie kak nie.
Tomorrow is the long loooooonnnggg march…but I am ready for it and rather looking forward to it. It will be long, it will be painfull…but bloody hell it will be fun! Well fun for me.
Keep on sending those good vibes ms.B!!! ran 90% of the time today, so I feel like a super star.
Thank you sooooo much for all your messages of support, it means so much to me to know that I have my peeps back home.
Will tell you guys all about camp life on Friday, when we have rest day.
Right party peeps…check you on the flip side.
And your only job tomorrow is to think about me!! Marching up and down a mountain.

Breaking point for me was between cp1 and cp2 on day 1! Nice hey, but after 3 days of running I feel like the king of my castle.
I came here to have an awesome time, to run a lot without pain. Well, this time I am running with the pain.
Today was fantastic!!!! Had such an awesome time running through the wadi rum, canyons and sand. Yip, lots of sand here, soft sand…hard sand…stupid sand…well any kind of sand you can think of,
I ran with Amanda today, and it felt so good to run for a change. The pain in my butt comes and goes, but it is manageable.
Nothing that a myprodol cant fix.
We are such a nice bunch of people, loads of old friends and loads of new friends.
Right peeps, keep on sending those good vibes, the sun is shining…so all around a lot of smiles!!
Miss you T!

Well, faaaaaaaak!
Ive never been in so much pain in my entire life. Total body lock down, left foot, left itb and left glutes…and some nice blisters to make me feel on top of the world!
Life is good!!!
So that is my bit of moaning for the week.
For the rest, at least we are not freezing today, sun is out, and ‘tent’ are dry.
Sort of all good
Will try and blog more tomorrow, a lot of people waiting
Westie!
